Tasting - "Gnarly Head"
Name: Gnarly Head
Variety: Merlot
Region: California
Country: USA
Year: 2013
Price: $9
Winery Review: "There is a full frontal attack of crushed black berry fruits, concentrated jammy and even slightly spicy cassis, blackberry sorbet, soft, balanced tannins and a really lovely juicy mouth-feel. The midpalate is solid showing good backbone, and the lingering finish is a testament to skilled winemaking using top quality fruit, with just a touch of black licorice, black cherry and allspice remaining on the palate after 20-plus seconds."
My Review: I really liked this wine. I would say it is my favorite merlot that I have tasted so far. It had a very berry taste. Kinda like a blackberry juicy taste. It left a very full flavor in my mouth. I was a little stuffed up so I wasn't able to smell all of the aromas that I wanted to. I had this wine with 2 day old pizza. The pizza was really bad, but the wine was delicious!
